Hajia Zainab
Becomes WCI Patroness
Wife of Kogi State Governor,
Hajia Zainab Ibrahim Idris, has
been appointed as the patroness
of Women for Change Initiative
in the state.
First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs. Dame
Patience Goodluck Jonathan, gave
the appointment during the
official launching of her pet
project, Women for Change
Initiative (WCI), held at the
Women Development Centre, Abuja,
penultimate week.
Mrs. Jonathan said the
appointment is in recognition of
the development of Women-fold in
the state, stating that the task
of making the objective of the
initiative a reality must be
accomplished.
She charged all the wives of
state governors to ensure that
the organization is effectively
launched and should function
properly in the states, local
government and ward levels.
Speaking after the appointment,
Hajia Zainab Idris, said the
establishment of Women for
Change Initiative is a welcome
development, adding that it was
high time for women to wake-up
to fight for their
socio-economic and political
rights.
She promised to ensure effective
mobilization of women in the
state irrespective of their
ethnic, religious and political
backgrounds, towards achieving
the goal of the initiative.
She therefore called on women in
the state to come together and
work as a team so that they
could fight for their rights.
