…Enough is Enough –INEC Lawyers

REACTING to the ruling, one of the Counsels to Governor Ibrahim Idris, Mr. Pius Akubo (SAN), declared that it was a long expected ruling.
He pointed out that the petition was vexatious, spurious and unsubstantiated, adding that the ruling was well researched, sound and articulate.
He thanked the tribunal for delivering judgement in record 5 days of giving final address, adding that it was unprecedented.
Mr. Akubo gave thanks to God for the victory, maintaining that truth must always prevail.
The lawyer to INEC, Mr. Goddy Uche, said that the judgement had vindicated INEC an unbias umpire in the contentious re-run election, in the interest of the development of the state.
The tribunal he stressed, had lived up to its expectation advising the petitioner not to appeal against the ruling.
Mr. Goddy remarked, “Enough is enough. There should be an end to all these, so that the state can move forward.” He described the ruling as the one that stands the test of time.
However, Dr. Alex Izinyon, the Counsel to the petitioner who looked dissatisfied with the ruling and seems ready for appeal brushed the pressmen aside, saying he would need to study the ruling before making any comment.
He appealed to the Secretariat of the Tribunal to type the epoch-making judgment to enable his client embark on fresh appeal.
Dr. Izinyon who looked visibly disappointed, was the same lawyer that secured victory for Prince Abubakar Audu during the earlier petition that finally secured the nullification of Governor Ibrahim’s mandate in January, 2008 and paved way for re-run governorship election on March 29, 2008.
