Bride Dies 24 Hrs after Wedding

A BRIDE who wedded in Ughell in Edo State, died in motor accident on Abuja-Okene Road last weekend while returning home in Abuja.
Though the names of the couple were not immediately known, the groom and his father were both brought to Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, for treatment after the tragedy.
While the woman died with her glittering wedding ring, the man who was in shock was being attended to by a team of medical personnel.
The bride was traveling with the groom in a jeep which was part of the wedding convoy before the irreversible separation occurred.
The father of the groom who accompanied the couple in the ill-fated car, was seen in a critical condition at the hospital which has assumed notoriety for hosting casualties of motor accidents on Okene-Lokoja-Abuja highway.
The vehicle was said to have veered from its lane and collided with an on-coming one.
Friends and relations who attended the wedding later met the disaster and rushed the couple to the hospital.
Relations were also seen making frantic efforts to evacuate the corpse. When our correspondent came to the federal medical centre, the jeep was seen loaded with wedding gifts.
In recent years, accidents are being associated wedding ceremonies. In Kano last year, a boat captisized killing a bride and several members of her family.
In Ife-Modakekke area of Osun State, a whole wedding train was caught up in fire disaster caused by fuel tanker explosion. The burnt corpses of bride and bridegroom were later identified only by the rings they wore.
