Irregular Bank Accounts Delay NECO Exam Allowances – Co-ordinator
By Bayo Aka

Kogi State National Examination Councils, (NECO) Co-ordinator, Dr. Jacob Ekele, has disclosed that the failure of NECO supervisors in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state to give their bank account numbers is responsible for the delay in the payment of the 2007 supervision allowances.
Dr. Ekele stated this during a chat with journalists in his office. He explained that rather than writing individual bank account number, about six supervisors lumped their names together on a single bank account.
He added that most of them used Micro Finance Bank, Kabba, which does not have facilities for on-line operations.
Dr. Ekele noted that life is dynamic and this is responsible for NECO paying and receiving money on-line. He appealed to the supervisors and examiners to open accounts with modern banks that operate online.
He stressed that the allegation of corruption by some of the supervisors is unfounded as any money paid by NECO to the supervisors and examiners is directly released by the head office in Minna.
The Co-ordinator also added that the salary that NECO pays its staff is satisfactory enough to discourage them from fraud.
In a telephone conversation with an officer in Minna, he revealed that the supervisors would be remunerated shortly on-line through their respective bank accounts.

Attah Igala lifts Suspension Order On ICDA
The Attah Igala, Alhaji Aliyu Obaje, has lifted the suspension order placed on the Executive of Igala Cultural and Development Association, (ICDA) and the annual Igala National Day Celebration (ITALO).
This is contained in a press statement signed by Attah Igala and made available to The Graphic in Lokoja.
According to the press statement, Alhaji Aliyu Obaje stated that the decision was sequel to the meeting of Igala Area Traditional Council’s resolution in a meeting held on 7th August 2008.
The letter urged the Exco members to carry out the activities of the Association as required of them.
It would be recalled that Italo 2007 held in Anyigba was marred by political disturbances.
This led to the suspension of the Executives of the ICDA and the ITALO and the setting up of a 12-man investigation panel to investigate the remote cause of the disturbance.
