Govt Boosts Food
Production with N40m
In a bid to boost food
production, Kogi State
Government has paid the sum of
N40m as its counterpart fund for
fadama III project in the state.
Commissioner for Agriculture and
Natural Resources, Hon. Abiodun
Ojo made this known at the
opening ceremony of a three-day
orientation worship for Desk
Officers of Fadama Development
Project held at the Children’s
Amusement Park, Lokoja.
Hon. Ojo said the state
government has also procured
assorted fertilizers for farmers
in the state, adding that the
administration of Alhaji Ibrahim
Idris is committed towards
enhancing agricultural
activities.
The Commissioner commended the
efforts of Fadama co-ordinating
offices in the state, saying
they have succeeded in equipping
farmers with the required
information on modern farming
techniques.
Hon. Ojo called on the
participants at the workshop to
make good use of what they
leant. He also urged farmers in
the state to make use of
government’s gesture in boosting
food production.
Earlier, the state co-ordinator
of Fadama, Mr. Paul Ogunmola
expressed gratitude to Kogi
State government for according
Fadama farming top priority. He
called on participants to make
good use of the workshop in
enhancing fadama farming in the

NUJ President
Loses Mother
The death has been announced of
the mother of the President,
Nigeria Union of Journalists,
Hajiya Amina Garba.
Hajia Garba died last week at
the age of 75. According to a
press statement signed by the
National Secretary of the Union,
Shuaibu Usman Leman, Hayija
Garba is survived by three
children-Isah Garba, Mohammed
Garba (NUJ) President and Sanusi
Garba.
Her remains has been buried
according to Muslim rites in
Kano.
Meanwhile, the forum of Former
Elected Chairmen and Secretaries
of NUJ, Kogi State chapter, has
commisarat with the President
over the irreparable loss.
In a statement jointly signed by
the President and Secretary of
the forum, Alhaji Sani Adamu and
Segun Omolehin respectively,
urged Mallam Mohammed Garba and
the entire family to take solace
in Allah reminding that there is
a time to live and a time to
return to our creator.
The forum prayed for the repose
soul of the dead in Aljeena
firdausi. Similarly it has
condoled one of its members and
former Chairman Kogi State
Council, Mr. Emmanuel Bola Boro
over the death of his mother.
The forum urged him to take
solace in the Lord that every
mortal has eternal end, while
urging him to see his mother’s
death as a call home at a ripe
age.
Mrs Agnes
Eniwomi Joins Ancestor
The death has occurred of the
first female teacher and the
first female to attain standard
six in Oworoland of Lokoja Local
Government Area, Mrs. Agnes
Aseimomi Eniwomi, at the age of
87 in Lokoja.
Late Mrs. Agnes, a foremost
educationist, was until her
death a devoted Christian and a
member of the Emmanuel Anglican
Church, Lokoja. She died on 15th
February, 2010 after a brieft
illness.
According to a family statement
signed by Mr. Ben Ampitan, late
Mrs. Agnes was born in 1923 to
the family of late Mr. and Mrs.
Peter and Esther Mokelu of
Igbonla in Oworo District in
Lokoja Local Government Area.
She attended the Holy Trinity
Primary School, Lokoja, Native
Authority Primary School, Agbaja
and Saint John’s Anglican
Primary School, Akaba, in Bassa
Local Government Area.
The statement added that late
Mrs. Agnes in 1959, became a
warden and a matron under the
tutelage of Colonial Masters and
served as Matron, Women Teachers
College, Kabba (now Federal
Government Girls College, Kabba
between 1959 and 1976, Teachers’
College, New Bussa, 1976 – 1977,
Lokoja Teachers’ College 1977 –
1985 where she retired in 1985.
The burial arrangement , the
statement added would be
announced later.
