The Lessons of Bank Failure in U.S.A
The United States of America is one of the biggest economies in the world and because of her size, she was able to instill confidence into the rest of the world, especially, developing countries whose economy depend on primary/raw materials exported to developed countries for their survival.
Also because of the large size of America, its economy and her domineering character, she does not only claim to be the world but tries to police the world. In fact, it is said that when America snisses, the rest of the world catches cold.
America as a world power, has its hands and tentacles in virtually every part of the world. She does not only house the United Nations but contributes heavily to the finances of that body. She has military bases in many parts of the world and spends billions of dollars on arms and ammunition. For example America spends about ten billion dollars monthly on the war in Iraq, billions of dollars on the war in Afganistan.
Also because of her military might, she takes unilateral actions/decisions without U.N. and some of its allies like Britain, Germany, France. Her decision to invade Iraq is one of such unilateral decisions.
As a result of its military activities about 30% of its budget goes on defence . Her budget deficit is in trillions of dollars. Since a number of economies, especially, developing countries depend on America, their foreign Reserve is in dollars. Nigeria is one of them, her Reserve of about $64 billion is in dollars and God helps us with the sagging American economy and the fall in the value of the dollars, what Nigeria might have lost is better imagined.
It is now advisable to move our money from dollar to Euros and other strong currencies to avoid further losses as done by Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries.
America is a debtor nation, living above its means. In fact, America is leaving on others, on borrowed robes. If Banks and Stock Market could collapse in such magnitude in God’s own country, Nigeria should be careful. The Central Bank and other handlers of the Nigerian monetary and fiscal policies should sit up, so as to avert this catastrophe.
Now America wants to bail out the collapsing Banks with $700 billion of Tax payers’ money. Nigeria cannot afford this catastrophe and that is why she should not fold her arms and depend on market forces, (demand and supply) to determine the course of her economy. Control measures are necessary and at times subsidy cannot be avoided. When these developed countries tell us not to subsidize our Agriculture and other aspects of our economy, they are deceiving us because they are subsidizing productivity in their own countries even in normal times.
This writer feels that Nigeria should do only those things that will serve her national interest instead of depending on prescription or is it dictation from IMF and the World Bank?

Don’t Allow Yourself to be Killed in Sleep – Prophet Tony Tells Xtains
Prophet (Dr) Tony Dickson Enemaku is one of the crowd pulling Pastor in Anyigba. He is a man of God whom the Most High chooses to use. Recently, he was in The Graphic to flag off a three day Revival programme tagged “Push the Prophecies” slated between October 24th and 26th, 2008 at Children Amusement Park, Lokoja at 5p.m daily. But what Prophet Tony said about how witches and wizard kill people in their sleep or even destroy men’s destiny is of interest to our readers.
Excerpts:
Why is this Revival different from others?
It implies pushing the prophecies beyond the realm of principalities. Many people have prayed and few people have their prayers answered. It is meant to release the answers of the long-time prayers. It is a time God wants to have an encounter with his people.
Expectation of people on that day
They should expect healing, deliverance from every problem that has tormented them for too long. Children of God are not meant to be tormented.
Major problems tormenting people in Nigeria
These include witchcraft oppression, diabolical means used to attack destines. The power of God is over whelming.
But destiny cannot be changed. Why do we worry?
Yes, I agree with you that destiny cannot be changed but it can be delayed. Delay can be dangerous. Some destinies are delayed until one dies. Some people die in their dreams and in wishful thinking. Your destiny can be delayed until death.
How do principalities determine the direction of people’s destiny?
The Bible says when the children of God sleep, the enemies come to cause havoc. The exploit of the enemies is keen when people go to sleep. They exploit the opportunities provided by sleep. Even warriors go to sleep! They could be helpless when they are asleep. Physical competence can’t serve as remedy. But prayers to God that neither sleep nor slumber is the only remedy. We should be spiritually vigilant, when we sleep.
Witches and wizards often confess that they kill people more when they are asleep, what is your response to that?
The Bible says my people perish for lack of knowledge. So, God’s people can still perish because of their ignorance using the devices of the devil.
Advice for people when they sleep?
They should pray to God who neither sleeps nor slumbers for adequate protection . The major programme for this event is that the Lord says, the sign and sound of the rain is not yet the rain. So many people saw the signs of their blessing but they never had it,the programme by the grace of God, bring into reality, their blessings.
Why do we have unanswered prayers?
One of the causes is the prevalence of principalities and powers as well as the ignorance of the church and its members. The inability to pursue some prophesies to its logical end, also leads to realm of unanswered prayers.
Why has the spiritual life of Nigerians not changed drastically?
As a nation, we have not changed spiritually because the people have not changed from their wicked ways. The Bible says “if my people who are called by my name should humble themselves and pray, and turn from the wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and heal their land”. Change will come, not through multitude of prayers but by obeying the need to turn from the wicked ways of the leaders and the entire people.
Where and when will the programme take place?
It will take place October 24th, to 26th, 2008 at Children Amusement Park, Lokoja, at 5 pm daily.
Other ministers
We have singers from other places. There will be prophetic programmes, prayers and breaking of yokes and curses.
