New Gospel Sensation, Aloko Tasks Colleagues
A new gospel music sensation, Evangelist Bode Aloko has challenged gospel singers in the country to sing songs that will uplift the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. He also charged them to promote love and peace among the believers as the country is getting ready to celebrate her 50th anniversary.
Evangelist Bode, popularly called Bodllon by his admirers stated this at a Gospel Music Minister’s Conference held at Jaffa Event Centre, Ilorin, Kwara State recently. Aloko enjoined gospel singers to sing songs that will influence the youths positively so that they can be able to bear fruits of righteousness whenever they are elected to serve their fatherland.
Meanwhile, the 32 –year –old marketing graduate of Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri, and from Mopa in Mopamuro Local Government Area, Kogi State who has concluded the audio recording of his debut album titled” New song”, explained that he is working hard on his yet to be released video before the album would be formerly presented to the public.
Bodllon, whose 7 –tracker album “New song” is targeting October 1st, 2010 as the launch date in Lokoja, to coincide with the 50th Independence celebrations of Nigeria. He assured believers that they would sing a new song as the Lord would pour down heavenly blessings upon the country when the album is released. Those who have the priviledge of listening to the “demo” described it as masterpiece, that would not only win souls for Christ but becoming an album that will top the chart as well as bringing a complete revolution into gospel music in Nigeria.

Soucy Goc Storms Music Scene With Kogi Lady
“MUSIC is a passion to me and has been in my blood right from my tender age”. I had long dream of becoming one of the superstars. My inspiration does not only come from my root, Kogi State but Nigeria and the world in general. These were the dreams of young Umameh Ocholi (a.k.a Soucy Goc).
The story of this young and promising artiste can be likened to that of every child of Destiny.
The Kogi State-born artist of Igala extraction, Souncy Goc, would soon breath fresh air into the music industry as he prepares to release a five tracker album titled: “Kogi Lady”.
The album, he adjudged sworn, will take the centre stage of Nigeria’s music industry and perhaps, favourite for dancehall when it eventually hit the market. Tracks like, God Dey your side, Kogi lady, Believe in Nigeria, Sample and price to pay, are hit tracks you have no option but to get ready with your dancing shoes and dig it out.
The graduate of Sociology from Abakaliki University who breezed into The Graphic entertainment office last week, disclosed that he is an embodiment of music, as he produces, composes and edits music video.
According to him, all the songs in his album are composed, produced and edited by him from his music studio located at phase II in Lokoja. Soucy disclosed that copies of the new work is already enjoying air play in some radio/television stations and that many big time producers have shown to make the hit songs work for him at a higher pedestal.
The gifted singer disclosed that for now, he has no particular kind of music, but he plays gospel, Hip Hop, Afro, Juju as well as Highlife music. This feat has pitched him with swells of fans in Kogi State.
Soucy Goc told The Graphic Entertainment Desk that he came with full force into music in 2004 while in school and had since featured in many musical groups before he finally settled for his album.
Speaking on the menace of pirates, he stated that, though, for an upcoming artiste like him, piracy helps them to become popular, but their activities are really killing the industry. He lamented on lack of funds, power supply and sponsors that would make him move forward.

Actress Linsday Lokan Sentenced for Drunk Driving
US actress Lindsay Lohan has been taken into custody in Los Angeles to serve a jail sentence for probation violation.
The 24-year-old was handcuffed and sent to a women’s prison, south of the city after appearing before a court.
She is expected to serve less than the 90-day sentence imposed earlier this month because of jail overcrowding, and is likely to spend it in isolation.
Lohan, who was jailed after failing to attend alcohol education classes, will enter rehabilitation after her release.
Her probation was imposed in 2007 in relation to drunk driving and drug possession charges.
In ordering Lohan’s remand, Judge Marsha Revel ordered TV cameras and photographers not to take pictures of the actress as she was taken away from the Beverly Hills courtroom.
“I don’t know exactly how long the jail will keep her. I can only impose the sentence,” said the judge.
Officials have said that Lohan’s sentence could be just three weeks for good behaviour and also due to the strain on prison accommodation.
The all-women prison, houses some 2,200 inmates.
Mobile phones and computers are prohibited in the jail, while Lohan will have to surrender all her jewellery and wear a standard orange jumpsuit.
Lohan spent just 84 minutes of a sentence there two years ago for her 2007 drunk-driving and drug possession offences.

Actor Wesley Snipes bags 3-Yr Prison sentence
A Federal Appeals Court has denied actor Wesley Snipes’ claim that his three-year prison sentence for tax evasion was “unreasonable.” A panel of judges in the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals upheld Snipes’ 2008 sentencing on three misdemeanor counts for failing to file tax returns.
“The district court acted well within its considerable discretion in sentencing Snipes to thirty-six months in prison,” the judges said.
Snipes had argued that the only reasonable sentence would have been a period of probation.
Snipes had been granted bond while he appealed his conviction on federal tax charges. It was unclear when he would be required to report to prison.
Snipes argued that the judge who sentenced him in April 2008 did not consider mitigating factors like his college education, family and charitable activities. Federal prosecutors said Snipes for nearly a decade escaped paying more than $15 million in income tax returns by sending money to overseas accounts, though they acknowledged in court that the amount was in dispute.
Before the sentence in 2008, the actor asked the court to show mercy and offered three checks totaling $5 million as a gesture of good will. Federal prosecutors diverted the checks to the U.S. Treasury, which accepted the payment — but it wasn’t enough. “It’s essentially a down payment, but a fraction of what he owes,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Scotland Morris said at the time.
A jury convicted Snipes on the misdemeanor charges February 1, but he was acquitted of more serious felony charges of tax fraud and conspiracy. Jurors accepted his argument that he was innocently duped by errant tax advisers. Defence attorneys in court suggested that to sentence Snipes harshly would be to disregard the jury’s verdict.
