In order to enhance the standard of
education in Kogi State, a
philanthropist and mogul, Alhaji
Abdulrazaq Isa Kutepa has built,
equipped and donated a science
laboratory worth N150 million to his
Alma-Mater, Government Secondary
School, Dekina.
The project, which was commissioned
by Governor Ibrahim Idirs recently,
was part of the activities to mark
the 78th anniversary of the college.
Alhaji Idris used the occasion to
reiterate the determination of his
administration to bequeath to
younger generations in the state
qualitative education will equip
them for the current global
challenges.
He noted that education was the
bed-rock of meaningful and
sustainable development in any
society hence, the resolve of his
administration to leave no stone
unturned in its quest to put the
education system on the path of
steady and sustainable growth.
He commended Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isa
for his patriotic zeal and concern
for the well-being of people of the
state, while calling on other
well-to-do indigenes to emulate him.
Earlier, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isa said
he was moved to embark on the
project to enhance the standard of
education which he observed had not
only declined to an abysmal level,
but was also affecting national
values, resourcefulness, creativity,
discipline and leadership in the
country.

Govt Approves Sec
School for Ayede-Amuro
In pursuance of its effort to bring
qualitative education to the
door-steps of the rural populace,
Kogi State Government has approved
the siting of another Government Day
Secondary School at Aiyede-Amuro in
Mopamuro local Governemnt Area of
the state.
Speaking during his working visit to
the site, Commissioner for
Education, Chief Sylvester Onoja
explained that government’s decision
to approve the school is informed by
its commitment to bequeath
qualitative education which he
described as the greatest dividend
of democracy, to next generations.
The commissioner who urged the
principal of the school to reside in
the community, described as
worrisome a situation where many
principals of secondary schools in
the state stay outside the village
where they teach, stressing that the
present administration would no
longer condone such.
He also urged the students to be
committed to their studies, adding
that government is committed to lay
a solid foundation that would
enhance teaching and leaving
situation.
Earlier, the council chairman, Mr.
Abayomi Obaro commended the
government for establishing the
school in his council area.
He assured that his council would
complement the state government’s
effort to actualize its dream of
qualitative education for Mopamuro
people.
Also, speaking the principal of the
school, Deaconess Olorunyomi
Roseline urged the government to
provide all necessary tools that
would enhance effective learning and
teaching in the school.
