Kidnappers of 2-Year-Old Boy Arrested
*After receiving N10m Ransom
Two kidnappers, who kidnapped a u-2-year-old boy and demanded for N10 million naira as ransom before they could release the child, have been nabbed by the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesman, Mr. Frank Mba, a Superintendent of Police, SP, told journalists in Lagos, that the two suspects, Onome King, 30, who hails from Cote D”Ivore, and Akojemu James, 33, abducted the child from the father’s house, Mr. Daniel Ebere, from their residence in Okota, Lagos.
The Graphic investigation revealed that the plot to kidnap the child was hatched by King, who is a friend of the father of the child, Daniel Ebere.
According to the police investigation, King allegedly went to his friend’s house at Okota and kidnapped the two year old child while pretending to buy candy in a nearby shop.
The police spokesman disclosed that the case was reported at the FESTAC Police Station and that the kidnappers demanded for 10 million naira as ransom from the father of the child before the child could be released.
At this stage, The Graphic investigation revealed, that the security operatives started to play along with the kidnappers on the advice of the police authority,
The kidnappers had demanded for N8, 000 dollars or 10 million naira, stressing that when the father of the child agreed to pay the ransom to the kidnappers, the two kidnappers become so interested in the deal.
Having sealed the agreement with the father of the child, both parties agreed that the money should be brought to where the child could be exchanged for the money.
At the agreed spot, the money 8,000 dollars was handed over to the kidnappers by the father of the child, in exchange for the child.
Having taken the 8,000 dollars from the father, the kidnappers sped off in their car but unknown to them, a car carrying some security operatives was on their trail.
The car hit the back of the kidnappers’ car, but as fate would have it they alighted from their car to see what was wrong, only to be arrested on the spot.
The suspects were taken to FESTAC Police Station by the police detective, led by Evelen Mba, who disclosed that they would be charge to court after proper investigation has been done.
