5 Thugs Mobbed
to Death in Anyigba |
“Those who live by
the sword die by the sword”
This saying became true when
five suspected thugs who
were alleged to have killed
husband and wife, were
mobbed to death by Anyigba
community, last week.
Anyigba is a central town in
Kogi East which has over the
years recorded flashes of
youth violence.
Reports available to The
Graphic revealed that the
five persons suspected to be
members of 12-man political
miscreant group met their
waterloo when luck ran out
of them on 2nd March, 2010
in the University Town.
Our crime Desk, gathered
that the gang had attacked
the residence of a couple,
Yusuf Momoh and his wife,
Fatimah Yusuf at about 10.20
pm killing the couple in
cold blood.
The community on hearing the
dastardly act, rose
spontaneously in search of
revenge which led to the
pursuit of the alleged
suspects.
In the aftermath of the
reprisal attack, seven
members of the gang escaped,
while five unfortunate ones
were killed.
Speaking on the incident,
Kogi State police command’s
image maker, ASP Abubakar
Mohammed confirmed that the
remains of the couple had
been released to the
relations for burial, on
their request after doctors
had performed the autopsy.
ASP Abubakar who explained
that though police were
currently investigating the
incident, seven suspects who
allegedly took part in the
killing of the couple have
been declared wanted by the
police.
The officer who could not
give the real names of those
wanted by the police,
however gave their pet names
as Kabiru alias Osama,
Alhaji Billa, Bab G and Nuhu
Makati, with yet to be
identified three others.
The bodies of the deceased
gang members have been
deposited in a morgue in
Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
