Gov Aliyu Assures of Religious Harmony
The Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, has reiterated that his administration would continue to be fair and just to all manners of people irrespective of their ethnic and religious inclinations.
Speaking when he received the newly inaugurated executive members of the state Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Governor Aliyu urged the association to assist government in its efforts to identify and apprehend fake preachers who might be out to instigate people to cause trouble in the state.
“We must be at alert and conscious, we must find ways of vetting our preachers to identify the fake ones amongst them and in doing so, we must adopt the community policing approach that will make it possible to know when a new preacher comes to town and whether he is knowledgeable enough to preach”, he emphasized.
The Governor appealed to CAN to assist the state government by providing volunteer teachers in Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) where necessary to ensure that pupils are taught ethical and moral lessons early enough for the overall good of the society.
Earlier, the CAN Chairman, Rev. Musa S. Dada, said the delegation was in Government House on a courtesy visit and to introduce the new executive to the government.
