The Graphic GM Worried Over Societal ills
The General Manager, Kogi State Printing and Publishing Corporation Publishers of The Graphic, Mr. Donatus Okpe, has called on government at all levels to address the numerous problems in the society urgently.
He made the call while responding to the speeches of the Board Members of National Orientation Agency (NOA) who paid a courtesy visit to the organisation, recently.
While noting that the problems bedeviling the country are complex, he stressed that all hands must be on deck to address the issues head-on.
The General Manager called on NOA Board to work towards restoring the values that have been jettisoned by Nigerians for quick money, stressing that; “respect for elders, hardwork and perseverance have all been subverted for quick money.
“Issues of armed robbery and kidnapping have become rampant even in Kogi State here. Formerly, this method was being used to press home issues but this has changed”, Mr. Okpe lamented.
He appealed to NOA to be more proactive in its approach to mobilize and sensitise Nigerians towards maintaining good value, advising that “NOA should translate its messages into local languages to be assessable to the large and scattered illiterate populace in the rural areas to achieve desired result”.
Mr. Okpe, who pledged the continued support of The Graphic to the activities of NOA, called on the agency to always give out information to the media.
Earlier, a Board member of NOA, Mr. George Izobo, said they were at the organisation to register their appreciation for the coverage of their activities over the years and appealed for more collaboration, stressing that, “it is through the media that we reach the people”.
While disclosing that the Board was visiting stakeholders in all parts of the country, Mr. Izobo revealed that “we are out to sensitise Nigerians to go back to their moral virtues which the country was once known for”.
“At the higher level, we sensitise them to have the right sense of governance while those at the lower level would be sensitized to know their right and help the government work”, he explained.
