Aba Laments
Decline in School Enrolment in
Odolu
From Samuel Ilani,
Igalamela/Odolu
YOUTH activism has been
identified as the major
factor responsible for the
sharp decline in school
enrolment in Odolu area in
recent time.
The Chairman, Igalamela/Odolu
Local Government Area, Hon.
Chief Ernest Aba, disclosed
this when the Onu Odolu,
Chief Haruna Atuluku, and
members of Odolu Traditional
Council paid a courtesy
visit to his office.
He lamented the situation
whereby school children and
students abandoned their
educational pursuit to take
part in youth orchestrated
violent activities, a
situation which he described
as unfortunate for the
development of the area.
Hon. Aba, therefore, called
on the traditional rulers
and elders in Odolu area to
prevail on the youths to
have a change of attitude by
shunning violence and
embracing peace so as to
sustain development and
progress in the area.
On the request for the
construction of Anike
bridge, Chief Aba assured
them that he would send a
team of engineers for a
feasibility study of the
project, as construction of
the bridge would afford the
local government to exploit
the economic potentials of
Owe river for the
development of the area.
Earlier, the Onu Odolu,
Chief Atuluku who was
accompanied by the Achema
Odolu, Chief John Onuche,
stated that they were in the
chairman’s office to express
their unalloyed support for
the administration and also
to declare that relative
peace has returned to Odolu
area since his assumption of
office as the Onu Odolu.
